This was a very laid back day. We got up late and just
lounged around in the morning. We got off to shop at some of the craft stores
on the pier.
After lunch we did our walk, as we had slept in this
morning. Here it is five laps to a mile. However, we could not walk on deck 7
where we usually walk because of maintenance.
However, we went up to 12 and made a course out of deck 12
and 13, that obviously included some stairs. If we did just deck 12 it would
have been 8 laps per mile, but by adding deck 13 it was 6 laps per mile.
Tonight we took a ships tour that went to see the Magic
Water Circuit. On the way we passed a little boy sitting on the side of the
street with his mother. He took a shining to Steve, and the two waved back and
forth.
As an aside, yesterday our tour guide told us about the most
popular food place in Lima, and they do have McDonalds, but that was not it. It
is a placed called Chifa. Years ago they brought the Chinese in to work in the
mines as day laborers. They spoke no Spanish. They cooked a dish that was a
combination of rice and chicken that the Spanish just loved. Since they could
not speak Spanish, they kept trying to say rice in Chinese to them, but they
did not understand. Then one day the Spanish starting calling it Chifa, a
combination of Chinese and Spanish, which has stuck to this day. He said they
eat there at least once a week.
Just across from the park where the fountains were located
was the Peru National Soccer stadium. It can seat 46,000 people and is used for
soccer and concerts.
This fountain is one of the most visited attractions in the
city. Unique to South America, the circuit consists of thirteen fountains that
combine movement, light, sound and images. It is called Fantasy Fountain. It
was nice, but was more holograms and lasers, than fountains.
