We boarded the Prinsendam about 11:45 AM about 15 minutes
after our friends Lynn and Gary dropped us off.
Very efficient operation. Then, to top it off our room was
ready. We had been upgraded to a suite a few weeks ago and we were pleasantly pleased
to see it. It has two work areas, great couch and balcony. Here are some
pictures of the room.
As we were walking around one of the first things we saw was
this picture on the sunsets and sun ups that we would encounter. Notice the one
at the bottom, will be a long day.
Before we got away from the dock, we had a couple of incidents.
I had backed a small paring knife in my suitcase to cut limes with, but
actually did not bring the limes. However, security found my knife and
confiscated it. Then after the life
boat drill we hear the alarm go off and say it is a real alarm. In about 10
minutes they explained it was a fire in the galley and had been put out.
The first thing we had to do was to orient ourselves to ship.
We found a trivia team (not doing any better than we did on the world cruise),
played board games, found the Ocean Bar with our bartender Ariel (see photo),
and was able to procure a larger ice bucket.
On the 5th I had put together a Meet and Greet
for those on Cruise Critic that were on this ship. I had made name tags for 74,
but figured that we would only have about 40 attend. It ended up with over 90.
All the ships officers came and introduced themselves and talked to us.
Tomorrow, Friday we will be in Isla de Providencia, Columbia.
Here are some pictures of the ship.
